Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Toastmasters Club

Joining the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Toastmasters Club is easy. The only requirement is that you or your company are a member of our Chamber. The club meets every Friday morning at 8:15 a.m. in the Chamber boardroom. Meetings are one hour long and begin and end promptly.

Dues are nominal. There is a one-time joining fee of $18.00 which will get you processed within the Toastmasters International system and provide you with your initial Toastmasters Communication and Leadership Program manual. Every six months we pay dues of $24.00 and this goes towards your monthly Toastmaster Magazine and paying club fees.

How Toastmasters Works:

At Toastmasters, members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a supportive environment. A typical Toastmaster club is made up of 20 to 30 people. Each meeting gives everyone an opportunity to practice.

Conducting meetings:

Meetings usually begin with a short business session which helps members and guests learn basic meeting procedures.

Giving impromptu speeches:

Members present one-to-two minute impromptu speeches on assigned topics.

Presenting prepared speeches:

Two or more members present speeches based on projects from their Toastmaster International Communication and Leadership Program manuals. Projects cover such topics as speech organization, voice, language, gestures, and persuasion.

Offering constructive evaluation:

Every prepared speaker is assigned an evaluator who points out speech strengths and offers suggestions for improvement.
